Description:

Pianist: Gyorgy (Georges) Cziffra playing Liszt's "Grand Galop Chromatique," in E-flat major S. 219. I read on someone elses video that this was live from Japan.. thats incorrect. This was filmed on September 25th, 1963 at the "ORTF," (Office de Radiodiffusion Télévision Française) in Paris. Cziffra was mostly affiliated with Liszt seeing as how he had the immense technical prowess necessary to play such "romps" as this. He was big headed too, hahaha. this piece was composed in 1838, same year as "La Campanella," guess Liszt was feeling -FRISKA- baddum tshh! (bad joke) :/ p.s. - this piece annoys the HELL out of me!

he and listz were obviously amazing pianists but even listz himsef seemed to have doubts as to wether his own compositions were of any historical importance saying himself that his true value may entirely be in his interpreting of great composers. his compositions though amaising seem to aim mainly at displaying his abilities

Well lordlactose, what in your opinion does sound good? Just think, if he's been alive today, he could have played video games while growing up instead of being conscripted into the fighting during WWII and being thrown in jail for 3 years as a political prisoner, and winning a world competition within 3 years of his release. Also, some people like Liszt's music. Maybe it's an acquired taste.
